An important insight: what it really means to take charge. Many of us confuse control with leadership, but true leadership is about being in charge in a way that empowers both yourself and others. Control vs. leadership: what it really means to be in charge.
From Victim to Leader: Taking Charge Starts Here
One of my coaching clients recently shared a breakthrough. She realized she had been seeing herself as a victim in certain situations. By shifting her mindset, she discovered she could take charge.
Taking charge isn’t about micromanaging or controlling every detail—it’s about stepping into leadership. It’s about owning your actions, decisions, and outcomes with confidence.
Control vs. Leadership: What’s the Difference?
Control often has a negative connotation. It feels restrictive, like you’re trying to force outcomes. Leadership, on the other hand, is about empowerment. When you lead, you trust yourself to navigate any situation, even without all the answers.
True leadership allows you to respond to setbacks, inspire others, and create progress—even when the path forward isn’t clear. Taking charge doesn’t mean you need to control everything; it means you’re confident in your ability to figure it out.
