The good girl
I’ve never done it before so I don’t think I can.
I’m not the right person because I don’t have all the expertise.
I’ll do it, but they will find out I am not capable eventually.
Do you hear the good girl saying this? While she behaves properly and is mostly concerned with doing what’s expected?
Meanwhile, the world is crying out for female leaders
Companies with female CEOs tend to be more profitable on average.
Worldwide, female leaders have been more successful in slowing down the spread of COVID and its consequences.
Yet, you still wonder if you have what it takes to truly stand for what you believe in. If you can manage to let go of the good girl that is easily overlooked.
That’s not surprising
Because, of course, you don’t climb on the roof to let everyone know you’re an empowered woman.
It’s not the intention for you to assert yourself in a Zoom meeting in a way that even absentees never forget you.
Naturally, you only collapse on the couch once the living room is tidy and the work is done.
It’s just very convenient for everyone that you’re a good girl.

Sometimes, you encounter someone who speaks all these true things. Things you already knew were true, but when articulated through someone else’s eyes, they take on a different context and hue.
This adjusts your perspective on the world and on yourself so profoundly that you take the leap and realize you’re capable of so much more than you had ever imagined.
